Distribute Follett Assigned-User Access Model eBooks

Destiny┬«Library Manager customers can purchase Follett assigned-user access model eBooks to assign to MyDestiny users. Copies are assigned via a code generated in Destiny Discover. Each user needs their own copy that expires according to subscription terms.

Notes:

  • In order to assign eBook subscriptions in MyDestiny, you must be a Destiny customer.
  • By default, Destiny users with access to Discover Admin can attain available eBook subscription codes in Destiny Discover. To give teachers and other staff access to the eBook Assignments page of Discover Admin, see Manage eBook Assignment Settings.
  • Copies are assigned on a first-come basis.
  • Once a teacher or student opens an eBook, a copy is claimed by that user for the duration of the subscription and cannot be revoked or transferred.
  • The subscription term begins when the code is redeemed in MyDestiny.

To attain available eBook subscription codes in Destiny Discover:

  1. From the Destiny Discover header, select Destiny Discover Main Menu icon. > Admin.
  2. On the side-bar, select eBook Assignments.

    Note: The titles that appear on the eBook Assignments page are those that were previously purchased via Titlewave.

  3. Next to the eBook you want to assign, click Assign.
  4. Select the MyDestiny Reservations tab.
  5. To reserve copies:
    1. Enter the number of copies you want to reserve.
    2. Click Generate Code. A pop-up appears.
    3. Click Confirm Reservation.
  6. Next to the appropriate code, click Copy to clipboard. to copy it.
  7. Redeem your code in MyDestiny (see next set of instructions).

To redeem available eBook subscription codes in MyDestiny:

  1. On the side-bar, under MENU, click Explore.
  2. On the eBook Assignments carousel, on the first tile, click Redeem. A pop-up appears.
  3. Under Reservation Code, enter the code you copied in Destiny Discover.
  4. Click Add Title. The title appears on the eBook Assignments carousel.

    Note: Only the teacher can see this eBook until it is assigned in a lesson.

  5. Add the title to a lesson (see next set of instructions).

To add a Follett assigned-user access model eBook to a lesson:

  1. On the side-bar, under MENU, click Explore.
  2. On the eBook Assignments carousel, find the book you want to add to a lesson.
  3. Hover over Add icon, and then click Add to Lesson.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Select the checkbox next to one or more lessons you want to add this eBook to.

    • Click Create Lesson, and then add a name for the new lesson.

    Note: If you create a new lesson, it will appear as a stand-alone lesson in your class. To move the lesson to a unit, see Manage Lessons.

  5. Do one of the following:

    If you want to...

    Then...

    Add the whole eBook

    Click Add Entire eBook +.

    Add part of the eBook

    1. Click Add & Select Content.
    2. Select one of the following:
      • Entire Book
      • Chapter(s): Make a selection from the drop-down.

        Notes:

        • Chapters must be consecutive.
        • To add nonconsecutive chapters, add the same eBook again with additional chapters selected.
      • Text: Highlight the desired excerpt, or select the start and end locations.

        Notes:

        • Text must be consecutive.
        • To add nonconsecutive text, add the same eBook again with additional text selected.
        • When the book is opened after it is added to the lesson, selected text is marked between a Right-facing start flag and a Left-facing end flag.
    3. Click Confirm Selection.
